Weekly Spinner Picks is all about the hot comics of the week and getting to know the tastes of the writers at Comics: The Gathering. Each week the CTG contributors spotlight which comics they are most looking forward to on Wednesday and how those picks got to the top of their to-read piles. Let us know if you agree or not with our picks and most importantly don’t forget to add your list in the comment section below!

Here are my hot picks of the week!

Flash Rebirth #1: I’m very excited for this title’s launch. Flash has always been one of my favorite characters and if Rebirth #1 is any indication he’ll be a main focal point to this event. I’ve checked out the preview pages and the art, handled by Carmine Di Giandomenico, looks fantastic. Very bright colours giving it a very vibrant look which I think suits a Flash book. It’s written by Joshua Williamson whom I have confidence will give us a unique perspective on the characters. This issue has Barry Allen coming to terms with a visit from Wally West and Zoom.

Wonder Woman Rebirth #1: This is another DC title I’m super excited for! I recently read the Brian Azzerallo run and feel I need more Wonder Woman in my life! From all the research I’ve done on the character Rucka’s past run gets absolute love from everyone. I can’t wait to see what he has in store this time around for our favorite Amazon. I’m also hopeful that the title is a huge success and DC decides to reprint his previous run which is currently very hard to find. The issue is drawn by Paolo Siqueria and Liam Sharp.

Midnight of the Soul #1: This new Image #1 is written and drawn by Howard Chaykin. The preview pages look great and I pretty much always check all #1s from Image. More often than not I’m rewarded with a fun read.

Lumberjanes Gotham Academy #1: I’m sucker when publishers have crossovers with other publishers. This Boom – DC crossover should be a rollicking good time. I’m pretty caught up in Gotham Academy but very far behind in Lumberjanes, hopefully that won’t affect my enjoyment of the issue. This crossover event is written by Chynna Clugston Flores with art duties handled by the duo of Rosemary Valero-O’Connell and Maddi Gonzalez.

Daredevil #8: The Man Without Fear always makes my list the week it comes out. Without a doubt he is one of my top three favorite characters of all time. Judging by the cover writer Charles Soule and artist Goran Sudzuka have our favorite hornhead spending some time in a casino.

Mostly excited about Harrow County #13 (Wednesday!!), which will come with a back-up story by Matt Kindt. The whole series has been great but I specially loved the last few issues, Cullen Bunn and Tyler Crook have done a great job of world-building and I can't wait to see what this new arc will be about.

Also, The Wicked + The Divine #20 should be great. Life comes at you fast.

DCU Rebirth was a nice read, especially as I haven't read a great deal of DC books beforehand. The Flash: Rebirth is the first of the new batch of titles I'm going to pick up. It was great reading the stories of the Wallys and Barry Allen on DCU, so this should be enjoyable.

Wonder Woman #1: I have been trying to get into a Wonder Woman ongoing since I started reading comics 3 years back. Unfortunately, Brian Azzarello was in the middle of his epic run and I did not have the money to catch up. Then came Meredith Finch who no one seemed to like that much. Finally Greg Rucka comes around with the phenomenally talented Liam Sharp and I have my first Wonder Woman series. Rucka can do no wrong and it seems like Rebirth can do no real wrong either.

The Vision #8: It's written by Tom King. I rest my came.

Sheriff of Babylon #7: Comics' lord and saviour Tom King is writing this one too.

Klaus #6: While I'm sad to see this wonderful series leave, I cannot wait to see how Morrison wraps the bow on his Santa Claus origin. This has been an incredibly fun and unique miniseries that is another example of Morrison's incredible talents.

The Vision #8: I went into this series not even realizing that it was Tom King, but man has it been amazing so far. I'll be sad when he leaves.

Daredevil # 8: Again, it's a series I have been thoroughly enjoying thus far, the art is gorgeous, and every issue seems to hit it out of the park.

Klaus #6: I love Morrison, and watching him do a series based on Santa Claus was a bit weird, but the quality speaks for itself. I can't wait to finally see Krampus, but I'm sad to see it end.
