Shadow #1
“What evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!” It’s the 1940’s, men are evil & corrupt and justice escapes them everyday. But no more! By day he is Lamont Cranston, an arrogant philanthropist. By night, draped in a black cloak & hat, a blood-red scarf & two smoking guns, he is The Shadow, dishing out his own brand of justice with extreme prejudice & excessive violence to evildoers everywhere.
We’ve come a long way since the Shadow’s last incarnation with the cheesy Alec Baldwin movie from some years ago. This version doesn’t sugar-coat it like that movie did, this is more vicious & bloody and has some sense of character development. After all, it is written by Garth Ennis, the guy responsible for such gems as Preacher & Crossed. For Ennis, the violence is tamed downed a little bit, but I had fun reading it. Illustrated by Aaaron Campbell (Dark Shadows Vol. 1) & a stunning cover by Jae Lee. From Dynamite Comics.
