Way of X #2 Review

What!?? That last page, wow!
This issue picks right up where the last one ended. Nightcrawler has discovered the whereabouts of Legion, well his astral form. Legion asks a favor of Nightcrawler promising a favor for a favor. Nightcrawler sets off to fulfill this favor.
I was so blown away by how good this issue was. I will say the previous issue didn't fully impress me. I needed more to get a feeling of where this series was headed. After reading this issue I'm fully on board now. Legion's presence is not usually a good thing. He's very unpredictable, and what is his true plans with Nightcrawler? This issue we do get to see Nightcrawler not only fulfill the favor Legion requests, we also finally see more growth in Nightcrawlers faith, or more accurate the way of X.
It was such an elegant way this book asked the questions and delivered some of the answers to faith. It also sets the stage for a huge problem, one bigger possibly than even Orchis represents. It got me asking so many questions, especially how this could impact the mutants as a whole. I feel that this is a tease to a future major event. It's also kind of cruel to tease something that has the potential to be huge right as we head into the current event the Hellfire Gala. We are going to have to wait to find out more, after the gala is over and possibly even after the trial.
The art in this issue was so exciting. It was very bright and dynamic, but the few heavy moments were delivered in such a way you could really feel the weight of the situation.
Overall Way of X is a one two punch of shock and awe. The events in this book will definitely have lasting impacts and we will only have to wait and see how lasting. That being said the unlikely duo of Nightcrawler and Legion is a duo I didn't know I wanted, but I'm very excited to have them.
