S.W.O.R.D. continues to go up against the King in Black.

This continues to be the best tie-ins of an event I’ve ever read. We get to see more of Manifold and wow does he kick some butt in this issue. If this is the sort of stuff we are going to get to see him do, then I can’t wait to see this series out of the event.

There are so many great uses of the mutants in this book. Another one that really shined was Frenzy. She’s always been cool, but she’s off the hook in this book. This creative team has really been leveling up their mutants in this series. Wiz-Kid for example also has some incredible moments.

This book is just so entertaining, from the comedy to the amazing action. There is something here for everyone. We even get to see the Five step up and be used for more than just resurrecting mutants. There is a moment though with Magneto that has me questioning his intentions. Could he overstep and cause friction? A message from Xavier poses such a question. We will have to wait and see.

I also really enjoyed the friction Brand is causing. She has a mission but her lack of empathy is not making any friends with the mutants of Krakoa. Though her measures while kept close to the chest and a need to know basis, they are effective. I look forward to seeing her interact with Beast and Sage in the future. I feel like there may be a lot more friction to come.

Overall this book continues to be a must read, even with these first few being tie-in issues. Now that’s definitely saying something. This book was a fantastic read and gets me very excited for what we will get post event.
