Supergirl Season 2 Episode 3 Review
**Spoilers**

This week's Supergirl episode was another solid episode with great action even if its political themes were abundant and as clear as day. The introduction of Miss Martian and how Mon-El establishes how Supergirl doesn't need Cat Grant and Superman in order to remain great.

The introduction of the President saw three storylines intertwine in this episode. The introduction of Mon-El, Kara's first interview with Lena, and the political debate revolving around Aliens and their place in America. Starting with Mon-El, His story worked for what the episode needed. Chris Wood portrayed an innately likable dude who already has great chemistry with Melissa Benoist. (Next Love Interest?) There isn't much to say about his character just yet as we barely have had any time with him, but I am looking forward to what comes next. Kara's day job was also prevalent this episode as the lack of Cat Grant allowed for us to see Kara learning under Snapper Carr and James dealing with his own storyline separate from Kara's. It was good but I can't help like feeling that the CatCo stories are slowly getting phased out as the DEO seems to be the main focus this season. With James now becoming Guardian and Snapper Carr being only a recurring star, I wouldn't be surprised if they drop CatCo entirely for Season 3.

With both of these storylines, the main recurring theme was the political divide in between allowing aliens to roam free in America. This plot line reeked of political parallels to the current general election in America right now, mirroring topics covered by Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. It is common knowledge that Supergirl is a pretty left show, being more democratic in its views and it is no surprise that it initially took that side when covering immigration. But Kara showing that she had her own prejudices, while predictable, was appreciated. It gave layers to what was being portrayed as a black and white scenario. If you were a more right-leaning person regarding political views, this episode might have not been agreed with you on a fundamental level thus affecting your enjoyment. Even with that said, I was fine with these political references.

The president herself (played by Lynda Carter) also was a nice treat for this episode. The many easter eggs made many Wonder Woman fans very happy and I was pleased with how they paid homage to her legacy. Also new character, Maggie Sawyer, came into the fray as she made an interesting impression. While it is obvious Alex and Maggie are going to be the next couple on the show, Maggie's perspective and backstory is intriguing as she left quite an impression. Hopefully we will get to see more. Also Miss Martian appeared this episode but due to her brief appearance, I will save my final judgement until we see more.
