Strain #1 (of 12)

Contagion meets Salem’s Lot in this new series about vampirism and modern science! Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (nice name) from the C.D.C (Centre for Disease Control & Prevention) is called to investigate a critical situation at the JFK airport. Flight 753 from Berlin has landed with no communication from the pilots, the flight attendants or it’s passengers. The shutters are closed and the plane is sealed tight from the inside. 198 people died and only 3 have survived. An ancient evil has crossed the continent and has made New York City it’s new home!

Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s novel, the first in a trilogy, comes to life in this new series from Dark Horse Comics. Having never read the novel, I was unsure as to pick this up, but with David Lapham (Stray Bullets, Crossed : Family Values) adapting the story and one hell of a cover by Mike Huddleston (The Coffin), how could I resist? The back up story for this first issue has an intriguing and very Hellboy-ish feeling to it with It’s European mythology and folklore. I’m anticipating the second issue. Suggested for mature readers.
