Flash S03E16 - Into the Speed Force
I bring you the review of the last two episodes just before we are introduced to the second crossover of The Flash with Supergirl. You might have thought that I have abandoned you but to be frank, I was just too busy. Without any further excuses let’s get to business.
The last episode was all about Barry visiting speed force after what happened in the episode before that. I don’t want to make two separate reviews since these episodes are kind of connected. So, I’ll talk about events of both episodes as if they were one big episode that began with Wally and ends with Barry realizing something important.
Two weeks ago, we saw Wally being tricked by Savitar, who pulled Wally into the speed force where he took Savitar’s place in future Barry’s prison. Even though this seems unnecessarily complicated I liked this aspect of the episode and it showed Savitar as being able to battle the team even without his physical form. Rest of the episode was pretty average, but this part was great, also Barry’s battle with Savitar when he broke out was pretty cool.
The aftermath of this battle that happened in the latest episode was a great homage to Iron Giant, but I must again say that I don’t want to suffer how stupid these characters can be sometimes. Jesse knew that Savitar is extremely strong, stronger than Barry, who she knows is better than she is. Why the hell would she try to pick a fight with him 1 on 1?
And talking about being stupid, I really dislike how the screenwriters are handling the current situation between Iris and Barry. The only thing I can see when I watch those segments in the episodes lately is that they are trying to make it more dramatic at the cost of it making sense or even being true to characters from the first half of the season.
But now we are finally getting to the good parts. Barry in the speed force. What a ride that was last time when Kevin Smith was directing. This episode very much continued the trend of messing with Barry but this time around it was way more ominous. Barry’s actions cause the speed force to have some, let’s say reservations. I also liked that they chose 3 characters that are gone now to interact with Barry.
I would love to talk more about these last two episodes, but to be honest, lately I haven’t had much reason to say this, but it is very much true for these last two episodes. You really should watch them for yourselves. Even though there are still some things that I would like to be different last two episodes are way more in line with what we were used to having on this show.
