Flash #10

Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Felipe Watanabe
Colorist: Christopher Sotomayor

This issue was really good, after coming off the amazing Flash of Two Worlds issue, in my opinion Joshua Williamson, continues to kill it with his work on the Flash. In this issue we are first introduced to Shade, the villain for the next arc. This gives Williamson the chance to embrace his horror side, something he was also able to show with the Godspeed arc, and it is great that DC are letting him add some of his horror elements. I think for me that is why Williamson's flash run is so great, because of the fact that Barry is full of hope, so therefore the horror as a contrast works really well.

Although I did praise the horror, I wanted to address the creation of this new villain called Papercut, which also embraces Flash's wacky routes, with villains like the Rogues. The weirdness and wackiness of this villain is ridiculously hilarious, but he does prove he isn't a complete joke.

The main crux of the issue though is actually focusing on Wally trying to be a superhero and with all these established heroes, it is great to see Wally have to balance school with being Kid Flash, and how he shirked his responsibilities to be a superhero. As a reader, you can relate especially at his age, because for him it's be a boring student or the Kid Flash. I think it's also a testament to Williamson's writing, as he writes Wally like a child, up to what he decides to do in the end.

The art was good, but coouldn't really hold a candle to the work of Carmine Di Giandeminico, as the art didn't feel as dynamic, however the faces he drew in my opinon where better than Carmine's.

In conclusion, this is a solid start to the new arc of the Flash, and I really cannot wait to see where all of this goes, and to see the Kid Flash, Flash relationship grow.
