John Carter: The End #1
Writer: Brian Wood, Alex Cox
Artist: Hayden Sherman
Colorist: Chris O'Halloran
Publisher: Dynamite Comics
It's been many years since John Carter was on Mars. There has been war for supremacy and genocide that threatens to bring the planet to the edge of collapse.
This issue we see a search party locate John and urge him to come back to Mars. Dejah is a little distraught from a revelation that is revealed. When the team gets to Mars things are definitely no how they left them.
I really enjoyed this book a lot. John Carter of Mars has been a classic story that has had many novels, comics and a movie. We get to come back to this story with a fresh new direction and it truly does seem like it will be the end. There is conflict growing between John and Dejah that will surely test their relationship and I don't know if she will be able to forgive him.
The art in this book is incredible. i love the stylistic approach that Hayden Sherman has taken with the series. It definitely has a look and feel uniquely it's own. The color choices just pop off the page and enhance the art work that much more.
This issue seemed like it was more of a teaser than anything. We didn't get much into the story but it still managed to grab me and get me excited to find out what happens. This is definitely the start of an awesome series and you should definitely check it out.
