So much has happened to Daredevil. His protege is now in a hospital bed blinded. Seems like everyone important in his life is either killed or hurt. Daredevil had become estranged from the church since the death of Karen Page, but now we see Daredevil return to the church and seek guidance.
This issue we see Daredevil do some reflecting on his life and constant battles with Bullseye. These two have gone back and forth many times over the years and it would drive anyone to wonder if there is a point anymore. Could this be the final confrontation between these two nemesis?
I actually was quit impressed with this issue. I loved how it was centered around Daredevil reflecting on his past and what he should do. Acknowledging his diminished faith in the church but realizing that is where he finds a lot of his strength. I haven't been on board with Charles Soule's run but these last two issues have really changed my view.
This issue shows a perfect example why Daredevil is my all time favorite hero. Many times we get so caught up in just going through the motions with superhero books. It's refreshing when one steps aside from the classic battle good versus evil and we get into the psychology behind it all. Especially when it is a hero going up against their main villain it can seem stagnant. A hero needs a reason to keep going and Soule took us deep into Daredevils psyche and gave us that reason.
If you haven't been reading Daredevil then issue 15 & 16 are the perfect jumping on point. This is the Daredevil I have loved for many years at his best.
