Deathstroke #8

Writer: Christopher Priest
Artist: Carlo Pagulayan
Colourist: Jeremy Cox and Hi-Fi

This is the last issue of a long, confusing and overall great arc. I would like to point out that in my last review of issue 7, I said I didn’t like the fact it already showed us that Superman won the fight, but honestly the fight was awesome.

The use of strategy by Deathstroke in the fight, really showed why he is the World’s Greatest Assassin and is such a formidable foe to anyone he comes up against. The use of the Ikon suit in this fight, really finally showed us why the suit is so special. The suit had an AI which also helped him in his fight, which was interesting to see.

An interesting idea they put forth, was is there any point of not killing criminals. As they just come back, and also the fact that at what point do you follow the rules. It’s an idea that has been explored plenty of times, but I felt it meant more where you had a villain against hero, which is similar to Batman and Joker’s constant struggle.

There is also a little side-story with Rose, which reveals that Jericho’s fiancé actually works for Hive, the same people who killed Grant, her brother. The art is still done by Pagulayan, and I have praised it previously as it looks really good and the pencils are really sharp.

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend getting the trade of this if you are unsure. Priest has been telling an amazing story and this is probably one of the best DC rebirth titles out there. The fact that it had both Superman and Batman in it, was cool to see as well and they were used in interesting ways.
