Favorite Batman Stories
With Dark Knight Rises set to be released July 20th, let's start a list of essential Batman readind and personal favorites.
I'll start with Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. I recently re-read it and posted a review on here. This all-time classic reads like a modern story. I was really surprised that it didn't come off as dated. It is definitely an essential read for all Batman fans and my personal favorite.
I also love the Scott Snyder run in Detectice Comics, #871-881, The Black Mirror. One of the best runs I've ever read in any comic.
It'll never be dated, I could re-read that story over & over again and be entertained every single time. There are 2 other Batman stories that are pure gold for me. The Killing Joke is one of the darkest Batman story ever written, featuring Batman's iconic villain The Joker. The other is Batman : Venom, Batman falling into the abyss of drug addiction and slowly crawls his way back up. It also intruduces Bane as a major villain who plays an important role in the downfall of Batman (see Batman : Knightfall).
for me the best batman story or maybe i should say batman/robin story is DEATH IN THE FAMILY. the first time that DC gave the readers the chance to save or kill robin. you only had to vote....
