Nightwing #8
Writer: Tim Seeley
Artist: Javier Fernadez
THIS BOOK WAS PERFECT.
So for me I had always loved the character of nightwing, but this was the first series that was current that I was reading. I do not regret that one bit. So when it came to nightwing I was a bit blaze to the first 3 issues, not the rebirth issue, I enjoyed the first arc, especially Nightwing #3, but I was still expecting more, and in this issue Tim Seeley delivers.
His writing is written so well, with the previous few issues, showing that Dick and Raptor could actually be best friends, brothers even. This issue is dealing with the fact of how Bruce Wayne, has truly affected the life of Dick Grayson. Going into this issue, I was unclear on Raptor’s motives, but I walked out, clearer than ever and I think this is truly a testament to Seeley’s writing. Seeley allows everyday people to understand where Raptor is coming from, in his anger against the rich, especially Bruce Wayne.
As I started off this review, this book was perfect, but the last few pages, I think were some of the greatest, as it shows the true relationship between Dick and Bruce. At times the relationship is rocky, but you understand, their relationship is strengthened by their love and their bond.
Javi Fernadez’s art continues to be solid, but that is just expected from him usually. His style really complements the style of Nightwing as a character.
In conclusion, not much to add that I haven’t already said, except go out and buy this book and the previous books that lead up to this. I am excited for the next issue as nightwing will be teaming up with Superman.
