Batman: Arkham Knight #5

It's a Harley issue! This issue went by super quick and I was left wanting more. We get action right from the first panel as Commissioner Gordon is slowly being overcome by some sort of Joker toxin, but he's still in control enough to ask for Batman's help. Of course....since Joker is dead...Batman needs the next best thing, which is Harley Quinn. He breaks her out of Blackgate and takes her back to where she was shacked up with Joker in Arkham City. Thankfully Harley is having a change of heart since Joker's death, but she's still pretty schizo and shouldn't be trusted...we'll see...
Tomasi is obviously no stranger to this franchise as the dialogue is good enough to take the voicing from each character into consideration. Harley's dialogue especially was easy to voice in my head as she would say it in the animated series and games. To me, that's a sign of immense talent because most characters in comic books don't have already established voices, so they can be whatever. Here however, we have iconic voicing and the talent needed to pull authentic dialogue is great. Besides that, the plot is a bit of the same we've seen from the Bats for decades. Still good though.
The art team are absolutely killer when it comes to movement in these comics. Given that the game is based on the quick movements of Batman and his cohorts, it's refreshing to see it implemented here. The environments as well, very Gotham where I've been seeing less and less of that aesthetic being used in recent Batman comics. Here though it looks dark and brooding, just as it should. The costumes are also stunning and what else would you expect from such a great franchise? Love it.
Pretty good stuff! Pick it up!!
