The Fly: Outbreak #3

Man, this comic series is eerie as all hell. The atmosphere really adds another character to the story. The darkness of what's behind every decision and the overall mood is jarring at times. I'm a fan though because I think there should be more comics with this atmosphere. This issue we see Martin in his peak guilt-stricken glory, blaming himself and his family for the fly disease that is taking the labs by storm. Then as the issue progresses, we see where the name "Outbreak" steams from...not just for the labs....by for the city...
Seifert is doing Cronenberg proud with both this story and its immersive dialouge. Martin and all the other characters come off as extremely genuine and believable. The only thing that I can say that would be a downer is that some of the placeholders and dialogue might turn away the "meek" comic reader who is confused by the darkness in the writing. But that's more of a demographic that isn't going to pick up the comic in the first place and the only people who might care about that are the shareholders. Great writing though.
Marvelous artwork has become a staple of this comic thus far and menton3 continues to deliver issue after issue. I wish I had enough money to commission this guy to draw out some prints for me so I could hang them on my wall. It's beautiful stuff and I think when everything is said and done he'll be remembered among the greats like Alex Ross for drawing photorealistic stuff. The way he captures both the era and the characters is so mind-bogglingly poetic that you can't help but be mesmerized by everything he draws. I love this aritist. One of my favorites so far.
Another amazing issue. Pick it up!
