The Walking Dead #136

I almost made a horrible mistake and was going to get really angry at Kirkman for screwing up Carl's backstory, but thanks to some internet research, I'm happy to report that it turned the entire issue around for me. I had thought that Carl had said something that only happened on the TV show, but I was wrong because it happened in one of the very first issues and believe me when I say that I haven't read the first few issues in almost 10 years. Beyond that, this issue was very good, lots of character movement and psychological stuff. Carl is shaping up to be the main protagonist in this segue into the future, which is alright I guess, but I still want to see more Rick. Also in this issue we get a big panel of "WOAH!" from Jesus, don't wanna spoil that. The last panel is a good one, but also a bit ominous.

Kirkman continues to deliver into his 136th issue with gusto and bravado. Dialogue is tight, action is tight, everything is tight and on the ball. There's really nothing bad you can say about any of it except for the fact that he's filling the world with a lot of new faces and neglecting some of his other characters that haven't been seen for some time. Hopefully (according to the Letter Hacks section) that problem will be resolved very soon and we'll get some of that old booty to mingle with some of Kirkman's new booty.

Don't have anything to say about the art team that i haven't already said. Everything is still in glorious black and white. The facial expressions are still some of the best in comics today and the cover was pretty cool as well. Skybound even released an animated cover for this issue, I don't know if they've been doing that, but I caught wind of it today and checked it out. Maybe a Walking Dead animated series on the horizon? Wouldn't that be cool?

Great issue as always. Get it!
