The Amazing Spider-Man #12

Event fatique is a real thing, and lately I've been feeling it pretty intensely. Every time it's the end of the world and "nothing will ever be the same again!" But as we all know, in the comic universe things can never change for too long. With Marvel churning out a new event every season of the year, it's easy to be underwhelmed by the next one that chugs along. I felt that way when Marvel announced not only Axis, but also Spider-Verse would be happening in fall. For a second I thought I lost my mind. TWO EVENTS HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME?! Not only that, but I was also reading the books that those events directly tied into so I couldn't NOT read them. So I did what any comic book fan does: I complained about it, then I bought and read it.

AND I LOVED IT.

Spider-Verse has consistently been one of the most entertaining events in recent history. It's totally bananas in all the right ways. Dan Slott is a genius for putting all of the Spider-Persons into one massive story. It's engaging, hilarious, heartfelt, and incredibly exciting. All of the tie-ins have felt natural and not forced. Plus, it's great to have SpOck back in a major role!

Anyways, The Amazing Spider-Man #12 continues the thrill ride with some of the most ridiculous scenes I've seen in comics this year (Only the first week of January, but still). Even without Oliver Coipel on board as penciller, the issue is feels incredibly alive thanks to artist Giuseppe Camuncoli. He and Slott had worked previously on their excellent Superior Spider-Man run. I've been saying for awhile now that I'd love for Camuncoli to come on board as the permanent Spider-Man artist. Hopefully this is the beginning of that run. On top of having a really fun story and excellent art. this issue boasts a major reveal that will come as a shock, but to anyone who has been reading this event shouldn't be too surprised by it.

All in all, Spider-Verse has been a complete blast so far, if you're missing out on this make sure to check it out!
