"I said boom, shithead."

I have to imagine that while writing Roche Limit, Michael Moreci had a killer time coming up with all of the amazing one-liners in this book. The dialogue is top-notch, and, honestly, it doesn't stop being good there. It only gets better.

Roche Limit #1 is so confident in everything that it's doing that when it's juggling multiple, multiple plot threads, charaters, themes, and world-building it never feels off-track. There was never a moment that I felt confused or jumbled. Moreci not only can manage of these things well, but also create an interesting pace for the book. We're treated to a wonderful monologue over a languid scene of a horrific death. It's slow moving and deliberate in it's horror. Making sure we know that whatever is happening is not only necessary, but will be incredibly important. And once this scene ends, the book takes off.

Part of what makes this book so interesting is the mystery and sense of unknowing that pervades every page. Because of this I don't want to go to far into details about what happens.

Moreci is smartly teamed-up with artist Vic Malhotra whose panel layouts are honestly ingenous. Not to mention that panels that showcase the vastness of space surround Roche Limit are stunningly beautiful. Malhotra's art is definitely a strong reason to read the book and stay for awhile.

Despite dangling almost too many plot threads in front of readers, Roche Limit never loses focus and dazzles with compelling story, characters, and art.
