~~Having just been released from prison, the villain known as The Horse has struck a bargain with 3 amateur villains known as Apocalypse 3. He plans on setting a trap for his nemesis, the city’s champion The Navigator, but this is no ordinary dance that these two individuals normally go through and this is no ordinary plan.

The Pros & Cons
This new mini series explores how we look at heroes and villains, how the worst of enemies could also be the best of friends. Reading this, I couldn’t help but think of Dreamworks animation film Megamind, but without the humour, but just as colourful.

 The hero is The Navigator, a theatrical super hero that swings from rooftop to rooftop and has a utility belt that Batman would dream of. His nemesis is The Horse, a criminal mastermind who always seems to be one step ahead of the city’s champion. The two have a rich history of fights and confrontations that usually ends with The Horse in jail, like Batman and The Joker, they’re locked in an unending battle.

The story shifts from the protagonist and the antagonist to a little boy drawing a super hero in his room. The boy could be The Navigator as a child, but that remains to be seen. The dialogue between the hero and the villain is interesting and the ending certainly hooks the reader into returning for the second issue. The illustrations are visually impressive with bright colours and large panels that give a comic of this nature a larger than life image that really works. I really dig how The Navigator chooses his weapons from a hologram inventory, very original. The Horse’s mask is perfect balance of genius and a little crazy, it let’s you know that this guy could easily go over the edge.

With fascinating characters, a good plot and an epic ending, Translucid is a just the fresh breeze I was looking for lately.
