This is it, the last issue of Jonathan Hickman's X-Men.
I loved this issue. It was a great ending to a pretty amazing run. It also ends with a look to what is coming next in Planet-Sized X-Men. So much happened in this book that really had me cheering.
Firstly we get to see Xavier and Magneto speak to Namor again. I would absolutely love to have Namor back in the fold. I really enjoyed when he was on a team.
Next we actually got to see the election for the new X-Men team. Instead of just revealing the members we see the actual election. I loved how eloquent Doctor Strange and I think it was Kwannon were as they were explaining what was happening to I assume to be the Human Torch. The election was such a beautiful moment and I loved that shot of Sunfire off to the side on his own. It was hard to read his expression but each mutant got to express why that want to be an X-Man, and he was chosen. I would love to actually hear the case he made.
Next we get a very prominent cameo from someone from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They ask Cyclops what's his story. Reading Cyclops's response was so touching, and it really describe this new Cyclops we have been getting to know perfectly. I can't wait to read the adventures of this new X-Men team.
We got a bevy of artists involved in this book, each really getting to do a different moment. It was so fun and also a great celebration of this book. Every page was fantastic and such a beautiful culmination of talent deliver a ever so stunning final issue.
Overall this final issue was a stunning piece of work from a group of very talented people. It delivered some outstanding moments that will be remembered for years to come while also looking to the future of what's next for the mutatnts.
