The Hellfire Gala begins!
This is an event that I've been really excited about. It's concept is unlike any event we have had before and that is so refreshing.
This first issue was so fun, not only for the story but also who you see talking to who in the background of different panels. It's a party and people will mingle. Seeing Rogue talking with Doctor Strange was a fun one for me. It got me wondering what they would even have to talk about. There's is also lots of cameos from characters. Fans that rallied to have Tempo win the X-vote will love seeing her at the start of this issue.
I found this issue though a bit disjointed. Before the creator page it was obviously the start of the party, and then after it was the end or near the end of the party. I know they plan on doing the one night from different perspectives in each issue but I wasn't expecting that to happen in the same issue. But that's not really a negative against this issue as it really got my interest peaked as to what happened in-between. Especially from conversations that are hinted at that happened between Magik and Doctor Strange as well as one between Emma and Banshee.
This issue also felt a bit more like a teaser. Some big things seem like they might be happening at the Gala and this issue gave us a taste of a few of them.
Overall the Hellfire Gala has a promising start. This night will definitely be one to remember. Relationships may bloom but others seem like they may not survive after. My interest is certainly peaked after reading this issue.
