X-Men #4 Review

This is what the series should be! Wow I have to say this was one of the best issues in this series yet. While we only get a little bit of action, the intrigued was off the charts. This issue we see members of the Quiet Council attend the World Economic Forum and things get really interesting.
I loved this issue a lot. I really feel that this political direction is where this series should go and focus on. It was so interesting to see all the viewpoints of current events. That some nations are still not on board, and that they still challenge what the mutants bring to the table. One of the best moments in this issue is Magneto’s very long monologue. He has really come into his own and is now one of the most exciting characters in this new era of the X-Men. Magneto is still very pompous and arrogant, but he now brings a level of sophistication his character so truly deserves. I also really enjoy that the Quiet Council is responsible for leading the nation; Magneto seems to be the main voice. I need more of Magneto in more and more political situations; it’s just so fun to read.
So the one thing that I’m still having problems with is this one and done story in each issue. Yes they do connect to each other, they are just done so quickly that like this issue just as you are really getting into the story it’s over. Not all the issues in the series need to be multi-issue story arcs; it would be nice once in a while to have one. To let us really dive into a certain story and immerse ourselves in it.
Overall this is the best issue to be released in this series. I really feel that if this book continues to stay in the political realm it could be the best book in the ‘Dawn of X’ line-up. This is definitely a must read issue.
