Fa la la la la la ‘tis the season for gift giving and we’re here to help! December and the holiday season is upon us. Many of you are frantically trying to figure out what to get the comic book enthusiasts in your life. Since the culture has exploded in the last decade the choices are pretty much endless. The number one rule when buying for a collector is always include a gift receipt. With that being said here are some fun ideas to inspire you while you brave the shopping crowds! Enjoy! So with all that in mind we've gathered four of the CTG writers together to share their pick of gift ideas. Read on to hear the recommendations from Stephen, Wes, Nick & Nathan.

Graphic Novels

House of X/Power of X Hardcover

It seemed like everyone was talking about this series for the past 2 months or so. Each issue received rave reviews on our website and reinvigorated the X Franchise. Written by Jonathan Hickman and beautifully drawn by R.B. Silva and Pepe Larraz this hardcover will look magnificent on any comic book fans shelf. This book is guaranteed to be one that is enjoyed and flipped through for years to come! - Stephen

Punk Rock Jesus Deluxe Edition

This is one of my all time favorite books. It is written and drawn by the great Sean Murphy. It’s the story of a U.S.. reality show starring a clone of Jesus Christ. This black and white masterpiece is probably one of the comics I recommend the most to people looking for something different and original to read. I recommend the oversized deluxe edition if it is available. The bigger size showcases Murphy’s amazing artwork. If not available do go with the paperback as this is one story not to miss! - Stephen

The Complete Calvin and Hobbes

This is oversized 4 volume set includes every Calvin and Hobbes strip written and drawn by Bill Watterson. Calvin and Hobbes is easily one of the most beloved strips of all time and is still enjoyed around the world today. Watterson retired the strip in 1996 but it is still talked about and continues to inspire to this day. These treasures stand the test of time and will always be a cherished part of any collection. It comes in a nice slipcover case which will look nice on the shelf and is inviting to pull down read over and over again. - Stephen

Batman Omnibus Vol 1
By Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo

The best-selling Batman epic from the team that brought you DARK NIGHTS: METAL starts here! In this first of two omnibus collections, acclaimed storytellers Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo introduce the Caped Crusader to the Court of Owls, terrorize the whole Bat-Family with the Joker's faceless return in Death of the Family and retell Batman's origin for a new generation during the pivotal Zero Year! With inks by Jonathan Glapion and Danny Miki and guest appearances by James Tynion IV, Rafael Albuquerque, Becky Cloonan, Andy Kubert, Andy Clarke, Jason Fabok, Jock and more, this first volume collects BATMAN #0-33, #23.2 and BATMAN ANNUAL #1-2. - Wes

DCeased Collected Hardcover
By Tom Taylor

Six hundred million people. That's how many fall victim when a mysterious techno-organic virus is unleashed on Earth. Six hundred million infected. Six hundred million turned into mindless, rampaging killers bend on death and destruction.
And that's just the beginning.
Cities. Nations. Undersea kingdoms and paradise islands. One by one, they fall to the monstrous hordes. Now only Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the Justice League stand between Earth and utter annihilation...
But for how long?
Nothing they're ever faced has prepared them for an onslaught of this magnitude. Nothing they've ever seen can match the scale of the tragedy and terror that have been unleashed. As heroes and villains, gods and monsters are wiped out, only one question remains:
What happens to the World's Greatest Heroes if the world ends? - Wes

Tales From The Dark Multiverse: Batman Knightfall #1
By Scott Snyder & Kyle Higgins

Don't miss this twisted tale from the pages of the game-changing event "Batman: Knightfall"! Thirty years after Bruce Wayne was broken and failed to take back the mantle of the Bat, Jean-Paul Valley, now known as Saint Batman, has turned Gotham into the city of his dreams. In his new order, killing has become commonplace and criminals live in constant fear-all in the name of justice. But just when all seems lost, a new hope for Gotham City rises...the son of Bane! - Wes

Y: The Last Man Omnibus

This has to be one of my all time favorite graphic novels, this is a great time to pick it up as it’s just been released in an omnibus containing the complete 60 issue run. There is a TV series set to premiere next year on FX so if you haven’t read it before this would make a great time to pick it up. It follows Yorick, the only man left alive after a plague wipes out everything with a y chromosome. This is a comic I can’t recommend highly enough. - Nick

Annihilation Omnibus

For fans of Guardians of the Galaxy, whether the films or the comics, Annihilation Omnibus is a must have. While technically it’s Annihilation Conquest which introduces the Guardians as a team, Annihilation is the set up for that storyline, plus it features both Star-Lord and Drax quite heavily. It’s been out of print for a long time and until recently it went for ridiculous amounts of money on eBay. This reprint is a great opportunity to let fans read the beginning of Marvels greatest Cosmic Event. Now all we need is a reprint of Annihilation Conquest Omnibus, which surely is only a matter of time now. - Nick

She Could Fly Volume 1 and She Could Fly Volume 2: The Lost Pilot

She Could Fly’s second volume, The Lost Pilot, hits stores December 17th! She Could Fly mainly follows Luna in her journey to find out more about the famous flying woman. The series has many twists and turns, a lot of drama and horror, and a little bit of humor. It is an epic independent comic book series and is not only worth a read, but can also be a great gift for comic lovers who, like me, aren’t always too crazy about stuff from Marvel and DC. Or, if you know someone who loves comics and seems to always buy themselves all of the latest big titles, She Could Fly could possibly be a great gift considering it didn’t get the attention it deserves. Its second volume comes out in time for Christmas, but its first volume wouldn’t be a bad choice either! - Nathan

The Girl in the Bay TPB

She Could Fly is published by Berger Books, a line by Dark Horse Comics. The imprint has been consistently amazing which brings me to my next suggestion: The Girl in the Bay. The Girl in the Bay’s trade collects the series’ three issues and, similar to She Could Fly, is a fantastic independent comic book series with a great story full of mystery and horror. Also like She Could Fly, this collection could potentially be a fitting gift for the indie comic book lovers in your family or those that enjoy the horror genre. - Nathan

Statues

Since the Christmas budget can be tight, I reached out to my friends at Diamond Select Toys. Their PVC Dioramas are the best on the market at an affordable price, which is a huge deal at Christmas time. There are other companies out there that offer affordable dioramas and statues, but with them you get what you pay for, whereas with DST, the quality of their dioramas are second to none for the price! Here are the best dioramas they've made this year, and I’m so grateful to them for sending these to me so that I could share them with you!

Lego DC Batman 1989 Batmobile

Any fans of Batman or famous movie vehicles will go wild over this stunning set! This is probably the slickest Lego build I’ve ever seen. The details on this 3306 piece set will invoke waves of nostalgia of the ’89 classic for the lucky recipient. This beauty comes with 3 mini figures modeled after Micheal Keaton’s Batman, Jack Nicholson’s Joker, and Kim Bassinger’s Vicki Vale. This set will be proudly displayed as a centerpiece to many a collection! It does come with a hefty price tag so pool together with a few family members or friends to gift this delightful set. - Stephen

Funko Pops

These have to be the ultimate geeky gift. While they can divide people, there seems to be a big love/hate divide about whether people like them or not. But the sheer number of comic related pops make this an easy recommendation. Whatever a geeks favorite comic book character you can almost guarantee there is a pop to go along with it.

I like to collect pops which fit in with Graphic novels I’ve got, and display them together. Two recent releases which are sure to go down well in any collection would be Venom Vol. 1 by Donny Cates, recently released in a nice Hardcover, and to go along with it the Corrupted Venom Pop. These are hot properties right now, especially off the back of the Absolute Carnage event. A definite on my Christmas list. - Nick

Batman 80th  Anniversary POP
By Funko

Looking for something small and on the cheaper side of things? This year for Batmans 80th anniversary, Funko has released several exclusive new Batman pops that would make the best stocking stuffer out there for you or your loved one! - Wes

Miscellaneous

The Black Series Mandalorian Action Figure

Star Wars has been on an upward trend this month thanks to the launch of Disney Plus and it’s new original series, The Mandalorian. It’s a great show which has made Star Wars fans excited about the franchise once again. This Black Series figure perfectly captures the details of the main character. It’s beautifully crafted and is guaranteed to delight the Star Wars fan in your life. - Stephen

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse BluRay

This was one of the best superhero movies to ever hit the big screen. This is an absolute joy to watch for Spidey fans and really any superhero fans. The animation has a distinct comic book feel to it, the plot is original and fresh, great dialogue, and yeah it did win an Oscar! This is such a fun and dynamic film. This gift will definitely not disappoint! A great addition to anyone’s movie collection! - Stephen

Can I just second this? Such a good movie, this has probably been watched more than any other superhero film in our household! - Nick

The South Bend Shovel Slayer Hoodie

My wife made a rule that I can no longer watch Home Alone or Home Alone 2 throughout the year unless it’s in November and December because she got so tired of it being on in the house. I’m also fortunate because my best friends love the two movies as much as I do. I was blown away when I saw this awesome Home Alone hoodie on Fright Rags. The hoodie features a photo that resembles a movie poster for a movie about the legend of the South Bend Shovel Slayer from Home Alone. This hoodie would be a perfect gift for any big Home Alone fans you may know, especially if they love Home Alone and horror like I do. The beauty of this hoodie is it isn’t too Christmas-ey, so it is not only a festive gift, but it can be worn all year long! Fright Rags - Nathan

Marvel unlimited

Think you’ve read a lot of comics? Think again. With over 25,000 comics available for only $9.99/month there’s sure to be loads to keep Marvel fans busy. Fancy picking up a new comic but daunted by the thought of not following the story because you haven’t read the character before? This is a great resource for reading through older issues, and with plenty of guides online about the most important runs to read you’ll be well versed in all the important storylines to read. - Nick

Original Art (from Felix Comic Art)

This is the ultimate unique gift for the Comic book fan. You can’t beat having a piece of original comic book art, and there are some fantastic artists on here. You're guaranteed to be the envy of your friends with any piece from here. My personal highlight would be Ryan Stegmans Absolute Carnage pieces, I've spent far too much time admiring his work on here and wondering how I could justify spending this to my wife! A truly unique gift and the centerpiece of any collection. A quick warning though, you'll need deep pockets for some of the pieces on here, worth every penny though.
There are alternatives out there, but I recommend Felix Comic Art for their selection of artists. - Nick
