The second issue of the Allegiance series picks up with Leia, Rey, and Rose discovering that their welcome to Mon Cala is not as warm as they were expecting. Meanwhile, Finn and Poe's own mission encounters complications of its own thanks to a team of bounty hunters.

It's a quality continuation of what I thought was a fantastic first issue. There aren't as many highs or fun surprises as the first issue now that the series is going but it's still a nice extension of the plots already established. Aftab Ackbar is an interesting new character and probably a fun seed for the upcoming film, though he may not get too much development here with how short and fast paced the series is. It was very nice to see the First Order adding another shipyard to their domain, and to see Kylo in the role of brutal leader. The series is doing a good job of fleshing out the era and factions in a way many would argue the films themselves haven't.

I think probably the series's biggest flaw is what I mentioned before: it's pretty short and very fast paced. Normally with a series like Doctor Aphra I'm saying I wish the series had a faster pace so I wish more of the Marvel series could strike a balance. Most of the miniseries with five issues work fine. It makes me sad that something like Target Vader, our fourth Vader series, gets six issues while this only gets four. I'd like it if this series could get more time to breathe. I wouldn't even mind if it was an ongoing series with the same creative team, but it's probably too early for something like that, in the Journey To line.

Luke Ross's art is still solid as always. The character writing for especially Rey and Leia but the entire cast is still on point. I'm invested in the series (though I still think that it was a mistake to mention how the Finn/Poe plot goes in the Galaxy's Edge comic) and I'm looking forward to seeing where the plot goes from here.
