Supergirl #22 Review

This book is one of the best things to come out of Bendis' takeover of the Superman titles. I think this book is fantastic, and this issue got me really excited for the future of the series. The mystery of Rogol Zaar is really amplified pretty well by Marc Andreyko, and I think this will turn out to be a solid tie-in story.
Kevin. Maguire. He, Sean Parsons, and Ivan Plascencia are a fantastic team. Maguire's expression work is some of the best in the business, and whoever's decision it was for him to be on this book and drawing Supergirl and Krypto is a genius. I love what he does with Krypto's reactions, and Kara herself is a much more likable and human character than I've ever seen her when she's drawn by Maguire. Plain and simple, this entire book looks gorgeous. From the layouts to the character designs, Maguire proves yet again why he's one of the best DC artists of the last thirty years.
Andreyko's voice for Kara is equally as strong. Her interplay with Krypto is a fresher take on the character, since he brings out her playful and fun side, which we rarely have seen in the past few years. Her putting on such a brave and fun face while learning more about the man who destroyed her planet and killed her family and friends is just such an inspirational stance that I applaud and recommend the book on that merit alone.
This is a fantastic book. If you're reading Superman, you might as well be reading this too. It's got possibly the best art out of any DC book right now, unless I'm blanking on something just as good, and the story is just fun and fresh.
