The excellent team behind GREEN ARROW and OLD MAN LOGAN reunite for this very promising new Image series, GIDEON FALLS. What immediately sticks out to me is how grounded and raw the story is; this is unlike anything the two have done in the past, particularly Sorrentino. Sorrentino has made a name for himself with these big Marvel and DC titles and here we see a side of him that was genuinely surprising. Buildings, and the imposing nature of these buildings, seem to play a large part here and Sorrentino nails the mood. Sorrentino manages to throw in his classic art touches, namely how creates a stark focus on a single object, which is made possible by the colourist.

Sorrentino is joined by colourist Dave Stewart, who I don't think have worked together before as far as I know. I love Stewart's colouring generally and it complements Sorrentino's work very well, which can be very bombastic and huge.

As you can see, I'm talking about the art way more than the script. I just don't want to give anything away. Lemire has been impressing with his non-superhero work recently and this is another quality, intriguing story under his belt. There's a real mystery at the heart of all of this, and the final few pages in particular were quite horrifyingly well-done. There are two main characters who it seems we'll be following over the course of this series and I can't wait to learn more about them.

I highly, wholeheartedly recommend you check this series out when it hits stores on March 7. The art is unlike anything Sorrentino has done before, and Lemire crafts a solid mystery with just the right amount of severely creepy bubbling underneath.
