Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #35
Writer: Robert Venditti
Breakdowns: Tom Derenick
Artist: Jack Herbert
Colourist: Jason Wright
Letterer: Dave Sharpe
This is by far the best issue of the arc, as we get some pretty nice action scenes throughout and a great moment between Hal, John, Kyle, and Guy that felt earned to me since I love all these characters.
Still, it's a relatively simple issue. There isn't much progression aside from the Lanterns making a genuine effort to find the Guardians and the Controllers, so it's the aforementioned action that really holds this issue together as best it can. Sometimes the relationships between the four Lanterns can be lost in the vast scale of this book, so I think Robert Venditti made a good decision to keep the main four on their own rather than call in the entire Corps.
Jack Herbert is a great choice for this book. His pencils and Jason Wright's colours go quite well together, creating a really vibrant-looking page that really holds your attention. Herbert also draws one of the best Johns I've ever seen; John looks as expressive as ever in this issue.
I had a pretty solid time with this issue despite its focus on the action rather than progressing the story. Things are sure to get crazier in the next issue, but this was a fun ride.
