Sometimes all you need from a comic book is for it to be pure, unadulterated fun. With the digital-first Bombshells United, that is exactly what we’ve been getting week-in and week-out. In this, the 8th issue, Bennett splits the issue once again into two distinct plot-points.

The first, is a brief retelling of Batwoman’s origin in this universe after her fearsome fight with Black Adam in the last issue. For those who have not been following the Bombshells Universe, like myself, this was a nice touch by Bennett to give newer readers a sense of who Kate Kane really is.

The second part revolves around Renee Montoya and Batwoman, after that harrowing fight, being trapped in an Escher-like structure that is beautifully drawn by Andolfo. Bennett alludes to a couple of greek myths, namely that of the Minotaur’s labyrinth, during this sequence, even going as far as having Batwoman use one of her baseballs as the proverbial “red-string’ from the myth.

This all leads to another confrontation (I’ll let you guess with what), followed by the introduction to another very well known DC character.

Bombshells United continues to be one of those smartly written, extremely fun comics that I find myself coming back to every two weeks (or weekly for those who buy it digitally). I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again, DC Comics has maximized their tie-in potential with a lot of their properties in the past few years that has led to some fun comics that aren’t tied down by continuity, only by the creative team's imagination.
