One Million Moms Unhappy Over Gay Storylines

DC Comics and Marvel have fallen foul of campaign group One Million Moms who are unhappy about forthcoming gay storylines in both range of comics.
DC Comics, owned by Warner Bros, recently announced that an established and iconic superhero would come out as gay in a forthcoming issue. The move is part of DC Comics reboot of its range which gave it a clean slate – basically starting from day one again. Fan speculation is currently focused on Green Lantern as the most likely character to turn gay though some fans are speculating Batman may be the character.
Marvel, owned by Disney, has revealed a forthcoming issue will feature a same-sex marriage as Northstar ties the knot with his long-term boyfriend Kyle Jindau in Astonishing X-Men. Marvel and DC Comics have featured LGBT characters in the past – such as Bat Woman – but despite that conservative group One Million Moms is unhappy about the plans.
Who will they choose; Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Plastic Man, or another one of their characters that children look up to? The group have described the impending wedding between Northstar and his boyfriend as ‘ridiculous’, and dispute adults’ need for superhero role models. They don’t but do want to indoctrate…. impressionable young minds by placing these gay characters on pedestals in a positive light. These companies are heavily influencing our youth by using children’s superheroes to desensitize and brainwash them in thinking that a gay lifestyle choice is normal and desirable.” - One Million Moms statement
Well one major flaw in One Million Moms stance is “gay lifestyle choice” as evidence continues to point to the fact that being gay isn’t a choice and nor is it a lifestyle! Also if there really were one million moms in the campaign group then statistically quite a few of those moms – thousands of them – will have gay/lesbian/bisexual children. Those children certainly won’t be turned gay be a character in a comic book….after all children aren’t turned ‘straight’ by heterosexual characters in books, comics, movies and television programmes, are they?

Can you imagine if One Million Moms used their influence for positive change instead of spreading hate? The world would be a better place. Instead of interfering in the lives of others they might be able to bring actual worthy causes into the limelight. I'm so sick of ,in my opinion, this non-issue. Let people live their lives and focus on things that can better the world.
