Uncanny X-Force #18

by stephengervais on December 15, 2011

I’m sorry it had to end but today we got the conclusion to one of the top story arcs of 2011. Uncanny X-Force #18 brings an end to the instant classic, the Dark Angel Saga. Writer Rick Remender delivers a more than worthy finale to this epic adventure.

This installment opens with most of the X-Force team down and out due to the injuries suffered last issue. Only Psylocke and Fantomex stand in Archangel’s way of planting the seed of destruction and resetting evolution thus killing all life on earth.

This fast paced issue is a real roller coaster of emotions. It delivers everything from heart pounding action to heartbreak. Along with this masterfully woven tale is the eye popping artwork handled by the duo of Jerome Opena and Esad Ribic. Praise also must be given to Dean White who brings each panel to life with such vivid and bright colors. The potent combination of art and color gives us a near HD experience. This creative team compliment each other so well we can only hope they stay together for the foreseeable future.

This issue flows perfectly from the start all the way to its surprise ending. Not to ruin any surprises I won’t reveal my favorite moment but I will say it involves a head stabbing. This issue along with the entire Dark Angel Saga is truly a must a read of 2011.
