I was really excited when I heard this book was coming out. I always enjoyed reading the team-ups between DC’s Trinity, and finally we are getting a book devoted to the that. Although this first issue was not what I expected at all.

If you are picking this up expecting an explosive battle bringing Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman together to save the world, you might be a little disappointed. This is not an action packed issue, but more a journey of discovery, a family dinner of sorts.

We have a New Man of Steel and this universe's Batman and Wonder Woman are still unsure of who he is and if should they trust him. They know ultimately that they all need to work together but a team has to start somewhere. I loved this issue and thought it was the perfect start for this amazing trio. It’s hard to really get into the nitty gritty when you are out battling villains, so what better way than sitting down to dinner and talking things through.

Superman is Superman, but he’s not their Superman. There’s so much history that needs to be worked through and Francis Manapul really show us how human this trio is, and how willing they are to accept what is and come together as the family they know they are.

One of my favourite moments in this issue is when Superman teases Batman about something he’s done in the past, well this Batman didn’t do it as it was the Batman from Superman's universe. But it really made me chuckle because Batmans reaction was so classic Batman.

The art in this issue is absolutely stunning. I love seeing a writer also pen their book. The color palate that was chosen is perfect as well. I love the soft water color style with the crisp black outline. It gives the perfect tone and feel for this book.

I highly recommend picking up this book. It was so much fun seeing these heroes interact on a different level than just fighting bad guys and saving the day. This is shaping up to be a stellar series so don’t miss out on it!
