Hellions #5 Review
Writer: Zeb Wells
Artist: Carmen Carnero
Publisher: Marvel Comics
The quiet Council meets to discuss the tournament, and Empath is resurrected.
This was an interesting chapter. We get to see Sinister come up with a rather villainous solution to the tournament. But things don’t completely go his way. Don’t fret, Sinister always has a trick up his sleeve, or cape, or well, he always has a plan B. This plan may have ramifications later, I really look forward to after the event if anything comes to fruition from it.
‘Hellions’ has been such a fantastic series and we are only five issues in. Now that this issue is part of the ‘X of Swords' event, the book hasn’t even skipped a beat. It seamlessly transitioned into the event perfectly while still holding onto its unique style. I laughed out loud so many times reading this book. Empath continues to be one of my favorite members to this team. His tumultuous relationship with Greycrow also stands out as one of the best parts of the series. Though I do worry that with the permanent death on Otherworld, will Empath make it back? I sure hope so!
I was wondering how the Hellions were going to factor into the event. No one from the team was selected as a sword bearer. With a team of mostly villains and misfits they have now entered the event better than I could have ever expected. I think I’m almost more excited to see what they get up to than the actual tournament.
Overall this book hilariously tosses the Hellions into the mix. It was such a blast to read and I can’t wait to see more from this team of misfits.
