Giant-Size X-Men: Storm #1 Review
Writer: Jonathan Hickman
Artist: Russell Dauterman
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Is it a book about saving Storm or is it a narrative about the resurrection protocols?
This issue was such a fantastic read. While it was a great story about saving Storms life from this techno organic virus, it ultimately was a narrative about the resurrection protocols.
One of the best moments in this book was Emma saying what we all are thinking. "The miracle will be what an overly dramatic bit of nonsense this all is... After all, we're just going to resurrect you, dear." That's exactly it. Why are they going to all this trouble to find a cure when we can just resurrect Storm? This story dives into that and shows us why resurrection is not and should not be the fall back answer. One should choose to live.
'Giant-Size X-Men: Storm' has some of the most beautiful pages in any x-book. The way the virus looks, to the subtle expressions on each character's faces, every page is so fantastically crafted. Reading the X-books has been such a treat because we constantly are getting such amazing talent drawing them. I really would love to see Russell Dauterman on an ongoing x-series.
Overall this book jumps beyond the pages into a life affirming narrative all wrapped in an exciting and fun story. This is truly a gem not to be missed.
