Cable #4 Review
Writer: Gerry Duggan
Artist: Phil Noto
Publisher: Marvel Comics
So Cable has come up with a way to stop the Galadorian ronin. Though as we can foresee this will have future consequences.
What did I enjoy most about this issue? That this story arc is hopefully over. Honestly I’ve found that ‘Cable’ has taken a significant fall in quality after the first issue. I just found this story to be pretty simplistic and boring. It wasn’t without some redeeming qualities though. In this issue there are moments that reflect back on the first appearance of Kid Cable and I really appreciated that. It tied up some loose ends and answered some unanswered questions many of us had. Though one thing it also seemed to answer was that Kid Cable is here to stay.
There are things I like about Kid Cable, his dating all 5 Stepford Cuckoo Sisters is especially one. It brings an element of fun to this book. Though this book feels more like a second student book than a Cable solo series.
This issue does set up the coming event ‘X of Swords’ and that’s where we will probably see most of the ramifications of Cable's actions. How much of the event will be in regards to his actions, we don’t know.
Overall this series flounders where so many of the others shine. Not even Phil Noto’s outstanding art saves this book for me. Will the event help or hinder this series? We can only wait and see.
