Wolverine #3 Review
Writer: Benjamin Percy
Artist: Adam Kubert
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Please, more drunk Magneto! This was so awesome, I couldn’t stop laughing. We usually see him so formal and together, so it was really fun to see him let loose a bit.
I really enjoyed this book a lot. While I’m not the biggest fan of Wolverine, I’ve found this book really presents him in a way that is really engaging. There were moments where the book felt more like a ‘Marauders’ book than a ‘Wolverine’ book, just with less humor. This first story arc really humanizes Logan, in a way that we haven’t really seen much before. In this book Logan also mentions doing things differently this time, and we really get to see that. This isn’t the old Logan. He’s a lot more present, and appreciative of the people in his life. This is really a great direction for the character.
Wolverine and Kid Omega are such a fantastic duo. I’ve really been enjoying the two of them in ‘X-Force’ and so it’s great to see more of the two of them working together in this book. It’s really funny as well how Quentin even makes a comment about how many times he’s died working alongside Wolverine. I would be totally happy if Quentin becomes Logan’s permanent sidekick.
One of the areas this book really shines is with legend Adman Kubert’s art. Every page is just a joy to look at. It really takes the story to a whole new level, and it’s absolutely breathtaking.
Overall ‘Wolverine’ is a must read series. This is such an engaging story married with breathtaking art, I can’t recommend it enough. The only last thing I can say is this book needs more Omega Red! Then I’ll be really happy.
