Extermination #2 Review
Writer: Ed Brisson
Artist: Pepe Larraz
Publisher: Marvel Comics
.
Last issue Bloodstorm and Cable were killed and young Iceman was kidnapped. There seem to be two assailants on the loose but are they connected or is this just a coincidence?
This issue the X-Men try to make sense of the madness that happened while they try to figure out exactly what is happening. We see the X-Men come together to form a plan of attack. Young Cyclops is distraught and young Jean makes some interesting decisions.
While with the last issue I was left feeling a little let down. It was so much an x-event by the numbers that nothing really felt new and exciting. This issue though while a whinny distraught Cyclops was annoying it really felt organic and I enjoyed how Ed Brisson seemed to up the intensity with this issue. Not a lot of actual story happened in this issue or anymore story really revealed but I felt how each character was reacting to the events really felt real. Young Jean Grey's decision in this issue really intrigues me and I am excited to see why she chose who she did and what will come of it.
The art again in this issue is so well done. Pepe Larraz is one of the best x-artists. He pays such attention to detail and while pulling us through all the action he is able to make it fun and so very exciting. Even in the less intense moments you can still feel the drama oozing off the pages.
Overall this issue truly redeems where the last issue was lacking. I am now definitely into this story and excited for the next issue. It really does feel like something major is coming but what exactly an how do all the pieces come together? We will just have to wait and see.
