Supergirl Season 2 Episode 4 Review
**Spoilers**

With barely any new developments regarding the larger plot this season, Supergirl proved that it didn't need a constant reminder of her bigger threats in order to provide a good episode. Supergirl excelled with progressing its characters through many arcs revolving around Mon-El, Kara, and J'ohn.

The most pressing arc in this episode revolved around the appearance of M'gann and her relationship with J'ohn. While J'ohn was very excited about the premise of another green martian, his hopes were quickly dashed as M'gann turned him down. I do not know if it is because of my experience with Young Justice but this version of M'gann felt a lot colder than what was expected. The reveal of her White Martian, while expected, did explain her actions. But this seems a bit contrived as she seems to be going through the exact same J'ohn went through last year. M'gann is Hank and will have the big reveal where the rest of the cast will have to accept who she is. And for those who are new to the character, this is completely fine. But for someone like me, I wish they would do something else with the character.

Kara and Mon-El had their moments this episode but it was more of a filler episode in regards to their arcs. Kara got more experience as a reporter and we saw some backstory to Mon-El. Throughout these two arcs, it was apparent that the show is now setting up Mon-El and Kara to be the next main relationship. With Jimmy now becoming Guardian and his chemistry with Kara pretty weak, it makes sense that the show would bring in a new character to fill that role. Chris Wood has great chemistry with Melissa Benoist but I do hope they wait a while as I am liking Kara being along right now.

In the villain department, we had Roulette this week played by the amazing, Dichen Lachman. Dichen Lachman is one of the greats, but her role in Supergirl was significantly smaller than usual. Maybe its because she was just a villain of the week, but her presence deserves more. The character of Roulette also proposed quite an enigma which is waiting to be explored. Hopefully they return to her character in the future. The action and vfx were also solid this episode with Arrow veteran, James Bamford helping with some of the actions scenes. While it was barely noticeable, there were some subtle shots which made the action even more enjoyable. The switch of the CW has cemented and there are barely any vfx changes with the only observable thing is that they now use more up close shots of vfx and far away shots than the medium ones they used in the first season.

Overall, Supergirl provided an entertaining episode which continues its streak this season for being one of the best tv shows on right now.
