The Twilight Zone #10

Let me start off by saying that I love The Twilight Zone franchise very much. I've been fascinated with both it and The Outer Limits since I was a wee lad, so when I was given the chance to review this alongside another love of mine (Spoiler Alert: Escape From New York), needless to say...I was giddy. This issue picks up in the second part of what I'm assuming will be a three part look at time travel and sacrifice in the name of saving one man who appears to be the son of a very powerful businessman. The son was military, but didn't die in the line of duty, instead he died after giving a powerful speech about peace. Every time the main character goes back in time to find out who made the kill shot, something else happens that still results in the death of the serviceman.

Straczynski has created an interesting character piece. The dialouge is top notch and I was extremely impressed with the switches between time and the changes in what the characters are talking about. I liked the main character's dilemma and he seemed the most fleshed out in comparison to everyone else. The serviceman from the past and his father both seemed like hollow shells. There was a doctor who explains what time is and how it would be able to travel within its limits, this was the strongest section of the comic. All and all, quality stuff.

The art by Vilanova was pretty good as well. I enjoyed the distinction between shooter and non-shooter near the beginning of the issue. The other great thing that Guiu does is the facial expressions of all the characters are so raw and realistic that you know exactly how to read the lines out yourself. Also, the clothing of each person really caught my eye for some reason. I dug that a lot. Usually don't even notice it.

Awesome issue if you're a Twilight Zone fan!
