Sleepy Hollow #1

So, I have to be honest, I've never seen this show. I love the concept however because I've read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow inside and outside of college. Essentially this is a play on the story, bringing it up to date while also staying true to its roots. Ichabod Crane is the main character still, but he's been flung into the future by what I can only guess is some sort of wizard or mystic (again, haven't seen the show). That said, this comic is a bit on the “family” side of things. There's no real gore or anything which is be expected from a FOX TV show tie-in. I must admit that regardless of this, I am now interested in watching the show based on reading this comic.
I thought Bennett's name looked familiar and then I remembered that she's also a writer on the amazing comic Butterfly. She is good with whatever property she's given it seems. Great dialogue in this comic. Written like it's indeed a continuation of a TV show. I was impressed throughout and she threw some original ideas around too. I especially liked her handling of “The Trinity” when it came to witches. Made me genuinely nod my head in approval. Again, great job.
Another great job was by Coelho. His art reminded me of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which isn't a bad thing. It's cartoonish while also being extremely classic in its execution. I loved The way that Coelho also was able to capture the small town feel of Sleepy Hollow. All in all, very well done.
So, if you like the show...buy it. If you've never seen the show, give it a try. It's pretty good!
