Writer: Ian Flynn
Artist: Jennifer Hernandez
Colorist: Heather Breckel
Letterer: Corey Breen
Publisher: IDW

The third issue of the new Sonic the Hedgehog series features another artist who is no stranger to Sonic and his friends. Jennifer Hernandez joins the team for this week’s issue and it is delightful. IDW’s new Sonic the Hedgehog series has been great so far and this issue add another fun issue.

Ian Flynn is continuing to do what he does best, which is to write a fun all-ages comic book storyline for Sonic and his friends without it being too plain and predictable. I really enjoy that in this issue, we get to see Sonic and Knuckles team up to defeat a duo of hilarious bullies. But while that is all going on, the issue still pushes forward the storyline of their world recovering from the war that has ended and the new problems that are arising. These little teases at the end of each issue slowly revealing who the villain is continues to make me more excited for the next issue.

I really enjoyed the artwork that Hernandez and colorist Heather Breckel provided for this issue. The style of the artwork is really fun and satisfying to look at. This issue also contains my favorite battle scene of these first three issues. Hernandez has illustrated some really unique, detailed, and exciting action panels that are extremely entertaining.

Ian Flynn writes amazing Sonic the Hedgehog comic book stories and we are getting to see him do that with this rebooted series. This third issue shows no sign of any kind of lull in the near future for this series. It is full of excitement and comradery which is exactly what I read Sonic the Hedgehog comics for. With a different artist for all of these issues, the art is always fresh. In this issue, get to see Jennifer Hernandez’s Sonic the Hedgehog artwork which is always great and just adds a little extra to make this third issue another amazing one.
