Ant-Man #2
Writer: Nick Spencer
Artist: Ramon Rosanas
I completely adored Ant-Man #1. Since Hawkeye barely ships and has taken a more gloomy approach to its storytelling recently, this is the new Superhero book that makes me smile through amazing slice-of-life stories. In this week's issue, Scott applies for a bank loan for a new business of his and an unexpected twist leads to a cool fight scene between him and a robot weapon called the Midasbot. The plot of this book is extremely simple and fittingly so because Scott character completely steals the show. Nick Spencer is characterizing Ant-Man to perfection with this book. Scott’s a loveable guy who keeps trying to improve himself and seems to fall flat at every opportunity he has. Reading his dialogue and following his adventure is a complete joy and it’s what makes this book so great. On the down side however, we’re introduced to a new character here who felt a little too goofy for his own good. His presence ends up in a great moment for Scott but I did feel like he was a little over the top. To bring Spencer's script to life is Ramon Rosanas I truly hope that Marvel can keep this guy on one book. It’s becoming increasingly rare to have an artist work on a sole project at Marvel and I’m hoping that Rosanas can work his magic for Ant-Man every month, until the series meets its end.
