Okay so the first issue of this mini was not exactly my favourite book of the year, and that's the nicest thing I could say about it. So in issue one Zack the black Power Ranger accidently is transported with the evil tyrant Lord Zedd into the DC universe, and the other Power Rangers follow, where they are confronted by the JLA. In this issue the typical super hero crossover stuff happens, we get a fight, then they realize that they are both on the same side of truth and justice, and then some villains team up and that's where we are headed next issue.

I will try to focus on the positives first. I like the characters. Not the way they are written here, but in general I like them. I like the way the Zords are drawn, good stuff. We get a good joke about Batman not smiling that was cute, but then it's repeated.  That's all I got.

So the stuff I don't like. The cover and the art in general is not easy on the eyes. The colours are cartoony but a gross cartoon like palette that wouldn't even be at home in a Hanna Barbera cartoon. The figures just look off, like they are were cut and pasted into the panels instead of being part of the scene. There are panels that look silly. When our heroes are having there meet cute towards the end of the issue the Zords are just kind of hanging out all huddled together like they are listening to the conversation. We get silly posing from the Power Rangers.

Other then the normal cliché super hero cross over stuff, nothing happens in this issue. It honestly feels like half an issue of actual story. The characters are interchangeable and show no personality at all. It doesn't matter where the word balloons point because it could all be coming out of the same character. I went back to check, the Green Ranger(the best Power Ranger, and I will fight you on that), has no dialogue at all. Even during the Zord summoning scene he just stands there mute, its almost comical. Next issue we are going to see giant monster fights, that will be fun, but would be much better if it was the JLA meets Gamera or Godzilla, or Archie.  Okay maybe not Archie but you get my point. I wonder though if Archie ever grew to the size of a sky scraper and fought giant monsters, I mean he's done everything else right? This book is so hard to focus on sorry.

I hate being negative but I feel this is justified with this book. I'm a fan of both franchises, I grew up in the 90's when Power Rangers were the hottest kids show, so I am left wondering once again: who is this for? I am sure there are some people happy with it, but personally as a fan I am left with a bad taste in my mouth. It wasn't good, it was boring and predictable. Such a waste.
