Publisher: DC Comics

Following last week's epic reveal that Mr. Mxyzptlk was the fake Clark Kent the whole time, the third issue of the Superman Reborn storyline had a lot of weight on its shoulders. In an effortless move by the master storytellers Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason, they took last week's twist and went crazy with it, transporting us to the Fifth Dimension for an showdown of wits between Superman and Mxy.

Having Gleason back on pencils reminds me why Gleason is one of the best Superman artists of the last decade. His epic scope and personal-looking characters are unmatched, and the pure vibrant colours by John Kalisz only enunciate the art further.

While the inclusion of Mxy as a villain left some fans disappointed, he truly becomes a force of nature here and acts as a true foil to Superman. He hasn't been seen since Grant Morrison's Action Comics run at the start of the New 52, and it's about time the character gets some recognition. Hopefully he won't go away again after this story concludes.

The ending of this issue worried me. I absolutely will not spoil anything because people are very excited about this crossover and the questions we will be getting answered, but I'm concerned about the direction the character of Superman is going upon reaching the twist at the end of this issue. This issue is very strong and is the best issue of this crossover so far, but with one issue left, I'm officially worried.
