Futures End #7

Art by: Aaron Lopresti and Art Thibert

It’s happening. It’s finally happening. Futures End is finally being consistent. Two very solid issues in a row. This is the series I had been hoping to see. Intriguing and exciting all put together, with great art to boot. Once again, we get to see each story slowly inch forward. Unfortunately because of the series weekly design we only get to see about a scene per character. This makes the book speed by at an incredibly quick pace, and seemingly unconnected. This isn’t a problem though, as I’m sure all of the pieces will come together soon enough. Thankfully, the stories are interesting even though their disconnected. Surprisingly, the weakest part of this issue was Batman Beyond’s, mostly because it’s over before it even begins.

Back again this week on art duties is Lopresti and Thibert. Just like their previous issue they deliver the goods in a cartoonish variation of the DC house standard. It’s a good way to separate themselves from the rest of the somewhat generic art being presented in Futures End (excluding Patrick Zircher, of couse).

Overall, it’s good to see Futures End heading in the right direction. Mysteries continue to expand as new characters are introduced, but the story doesn’t seem to be slowing down anymore. From this point onward hopefully it barrels onward. Grab some snacks, a soda, and enjoy the ride.
