Animal Man #14

Animal Man #14 brings us the second installment to the Swamp Thing and Animal Man crossover! And Boy does it deliver! 

 

The Rot has won, Buddy Baker finds himself in Rot World and he has no idea how he got there! Beast Boy, Justice League Dark, and John Constantine join Animal Man in attempting to find a way to defeat the Rot.

 

To start off I’d like to say I’ve loved this title from the start Jeff Lemire has done wonderful things for Animal Man, and has paced it so well. This title and Swamp Thing have built up for the Rot World event since the beginning of the new 52 and to finally see it taking place is quite a spectacle! I find the art to be superb, but I have heard opinions of the opposite nature, but I believe when it comes down to art it all comes down to the matter of personal opinion. What I found interesting is that this issue takes its time to establish its setting rather than jumping into the much wanted action. It jumps for the time periods of “Now” which implies it is Rot World and “then” which is one year before the Rot takes over. It is amazingly paced not jumbling up time lines causing the “what” factor which is seen in many scenarios such as these.

Overall it’s a great read and will keep you excited for what’s to come in for the next installment of Rot World! 

 

(P.s. did anyone else notice all of the characters succumbed by the rot were Leifield created characters?... hhhmmm strange.)
