Grodd
Hello, welcome to the review of the first part of the story that brings back Grodd, one of the more powerful villains that Flash has. I’m going to warn you right now, that this review will contain spoilers. I know that I normally don’t do that, but this time I really want to comment on everything that has happened in this episode and express what I think. However the last paragraph will be spoiler free so you can look down for summary that will tell you whether this episode is worth your time.

*Spoilers*

At the start, I have to praise the beginning of this episode. We saw interactions between so many characters and all of them were just great. How excited Julian was when Barry told him about parallel earths, Jesse’s interaction with HR when she thought that he was her dad. I must say that the beginning with all those emotions was probably one of the most genuine moments we got to see on the show. Also for this part, I must say that I thought that the acting was superb by all actors involved.

Well from the preview we know that Harrison Wells from Earth-2 was kidnapped by Grodd and Jesse came to ask Barry for help. They form a group that consists of Barry, Caitlin, Cisco and Julian and head to Earth-2 to save Wells. And here it kind of starts to … I want to say fall apart, but it wasn’t that bad. They all get captured and manipulated into fighting the leader of the gorillas. Of course, Barry takes this challenge onto his shoulders. The group has some interactions with Grodd who manipulates them but most of you probably spend half the time during these conversations wondering, why the gorillas sometimes talk to them directly and other times through Wells or Cisco when they later just enter the frame anyways. My guess is that they wanted to save some money on doing less CGI but it ended up being just too distracting.

And here comes my biggest grief with this episode. It all build towards the battle between Barry and Solovar. And the fight itself is just … extremely underwhelming. Most of the fight doesn’t make any sense. Barry gets slapped two times, then runs for an extremely long time without doing anything and then trips on dust. I mean, come on, what was that supposed to be about?

Now we move onto more plausible part of the episode. Jesse and Wally are sorting some stuff out between them. In an earlier review, I wrote that I hoped that the writers wouldn’t pair them up. Well even though they did I am hoping that they will make most of it. So far it seems like we might see more of those two in the future episodes, but I’m not a big fan of making most of the problems between these two stemming from the off screen.

Another pair that we got to see was Caitlin with Julian. Julian is slowly falling for Caitlin and he is becoming more reckless against his better judgment, but at least we see everything that is going on between them on screen and I’m looking forward to seeing what direction will they take their relationship.

*End of spoilers*

This episode was entertaining, but to me, Flash is becoming show that you really can’t think much about because the suspense of disbelief must be turned to maximum for you to enjoy it lately. As soon as one starts to think a bit about what is happening on screen you question so many things that are going on. But besides this, we saw some good acting and really cheesy but in the end still epic battle and if those things aren’t enough to motive you to watch it I don’t know what is.
