If you’ve read any of my previous reviews covering BOOM! Studios’ Power Ranger series you’re probably already aware of how much of Power Rangers fan I am. I have been pumped since the solicitation for this issue was released and while it didn’t quite hit the emotional notes I hoped for, it was still a fun read and fitting end with such a large scale Zord battle.

Parrott pays homage to the typical Power Rangers ending by staging this issue as a massive Zord fight, with single combat between the Rangers’ Zords and the Terrorzords. Loved that Parrott wrote these teams to fight each other in single combat, it helps shape the epic scope of this issue and also underlines the familiarity between the Rangers and Dark Rangers that’s developed between these characters. I know there’s more to come in the new series that have been announced but I wish this issue had done more to close this chapter of such a fantastic series.

Hidalgo, Del Grosso, Dukeshire and Monti nail the grand scale of this issue right off the bat with a fantastic splash page detailing the brawl between these spectacular Zords. Dukeshire does a great job of conveying the clashes between each mechanical beast and the absolutely sinister voices of the Dark Rangers. The color work in this issue is, dare I say, morphenomenal! They’re rich and vivid and combined with Hidalgo’s illustrations the scenes are just dazzling to look at.

This issue makes for some great entertainment. The action is spirited and easy to follow, if your favorite scenes in the show have been the Zord battles, then this is definitely an issue you’ll enjoy.
