If you read my Batgirl Annual review I drew attention to how it always seems that the female characters always seemed shunned outside of their respective families, so it was really nice to see Superman and Supergirl interact, especially after the events of Superman Reborn. As fun as this issue was, the story was a mess.

One really cool part of this issue is it focuses on recapping past events that have happened lately in the Superman Universe. If for some unknown reason you chose not to read Superman Reborn this issue definitely catches you up with it and does it in a clear and concise way, even if you haven’t been reading any Superman or Action Comics.

However itself seems to jump around way too much. I feel it could have potentially been a really good issue, but it felt like it was ending and restarting too many plot lines, whilst trying to tell it’s own story in the form of Truth Day. Perhaps if this was a 2 issue arc as opposed to a one-shot the book would be better serviced. As Superman explains the events of Superman Reborn, we also get a storyline involving Batgirl and some stolen tech, an attack from Emerald Empress, a sit down between Kara and Superman’s family and the reveal that Kara is having problems fitting in. Although we did already know that Kara was having problems fitting in, it feels hollow among everything else going on.

In conclusion, for the most part I am still really enjoying this series and would recommend it, if you were thinking of buying it. It seems the next arc with the Phantom King is being set-up which looks and sounds really interesting.
