New Superman is a really great book and is definetly one of the strongest monthly DC Rebirth books currently out. The characters are really well-written and are diverse in how they are actually written. The book also has some of the strongest 2-parter arcs of any DC Rebirth book.

However saying that I would say this is probably one of the weakest arcs yet. Super-Lex seemed really out of character, and seemed a lot more reminiscent of the old super-villian style Lex as he seems to be trying to acquire power in a way that is really dangerous. The rest of the characters are written exactly how you would expect.

The story itself is not bad and actually really progresses the story of Kenan quite nicely, as he learns that he cannot just use short cuts or the easy way out, which is a very valuable lesson. I do like the mentor roles of both Superman and Master I-Ching, and the fact that they do not conflict but both work together for the betterment of Kenan.

In conclusion I would say that the story was interesting, although Lex was written out of character. Another thing we get is a bit more story towards the Ching Lung mystery and I really like the direction in which it is going. I would still recommend this book highly to anyone that is even remotely interested.
