JLA: Killer Frost Rebirth
Writer: Steve Orlando and Jody Houser
Artist: Mirka Andolfo
Colourist: Arif Prianto
Whilst every single Rebirth issue was an origin issue, I was really wondering what this issue was gonna be about since we had already got an origin issue for Killer Frost. In a week with so many great DC books, such as Teen Titans, Deathstroke, and Flash. Unfortunately, this issue was subpar.
After JLvsSS #6 it doesn’t really make sense that Batman would try to test Killer Frost, by putting her in a situation where she could kill people. It’s a similar complaint people have with Batman letting Red Hood operate freely. Both cases go against everything that he stands for.
At least I will say the art was good. Another point is the fact that Orlando makes it seem like the fact that the criminals can use their powers freely. Most people would think they would use their powers, instead of attacking each other, to escape.
In JL vs SS #6, it made sense that Killer Frost needed energy from Batman to beat Eclipso and the amount of energy required would have killed Batman. So I didn’t really understand why she could not steal some of the energy, instead of just all. However, at the end of the book it does seem that happens.
I’m not a fan of Steve Orlando’s writing in most cases of anything I read from him. Night of the Monster Men and JLA: Atom Rebirth were the only ones I have really enjoyed, hopefully his JLA will be better as Hitch’s Justice League is also not very good.
